Dr. Griffin is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Surgery of the Foot and Ankle. He joined Dr. Dreeben’s La Jolla based FootMD practice in August of 2017 and is part of Synergy Specialist Medical Group of Orthopedic Surgeons. Originally from Orange County, Dr. Griffin attended the University of California, Irvine for undergraduate studies graduating in the top one-percent of his class (summa cum laude). He stayed at the University of California, Irvine for medical school graduating in the top of his class (alpha omega alpha). His Orthopaedic Surgery residency was completed at the University of Southern California/LAC+USC one of the busiest Level 1 Trauma Centers in the country and Keck Hospital of USC. He completed a post-residency fellowship in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery with internationally recognized field leader and innovator Michael J. Coughlin, M.D. at the Coughlin Clinic in Boise, Idaho.

His foot and ankle practice focuses on all aspects of foot and ankle care including total ankle replacement, arthroscopy, sports related injuries, hallux valgus (bunions), hallux rigidus, rheumatoid arthritis foot pathology, lateral ligament reconstructions, plantar fasciitis/tarsal tunnel syndrome, hammertoes/mallet toes, plantar plate deficiency, trauma and complex hindfoot deformity reconstruction.

Dr. Griffin is committed to continuing to provide the highest quality care for his patients. After a comprehensive evaluation, he provides individualized treatment, using leading-edge techniques when needed. It’s important to note that not all foot and ankle conditions need surgery. A careful risk and benefit approach is used which is unique to each patient and their associated condition.

He currently is also serving as Orthopaedic Team Physician for the San Diego Gulls AHL Hockey Team. In his free time, Dr. Griffin enjoys cycling, hiking, classic cars and spending time with his family.
